Overview
Duke is one of those that suffers least and just comes out different. By this recording Genesis had ironed out production deficiencies and the original is a well recorded album that doesnt need remixing. But this remix is fairly subtle and neither enhances nor ruins the recording.
Therefore that makes it a decent listen by default. My white vinyl copy is flat and plays with very little noise throughout. Explore the tracklist, credits, statistics, and more for Duke by Genesis. Compare versions and buy on Discogs This is absolutely by far the best this record is ever going to sound, considering how much music is spread onto a single LP.
The quality of the vinyl is stellar, not a single pop or click, and it simultaneously has the best mastering this record has ever been given. Don’t sit on your thumbs, buy this pressing immediately (that is if you appreciate this era of Genesis). Duke was positively received by music critics, who praised the album for bridging the band's progressive rock-oriented past, such as the closing ten-minute "Duke's Travels"/"Duke's End" suite, with their more pop rock-oriented, commercially accessible direction, as displayed on the hit singles "Turn It On Again", "Duchess", and "Misunderstanding".
