Novation Launchkey Mini 25 MK4 MIDI Keyboard
The Novation Launchkey Mini 25 MK4 is a portable creative MIDI controller from the re-engineered MK4 generation, pairing mini keys with deep DAW control and powerful built-in composition tools.
25 synth-style mini keys with pitch and modulation touchstrips keep it truly portable, alongside a crisp OLED display, 8 endless encoders and 16 velocity-sensitive FSR pads with polyphonic aftertouch for expressive finger drumming and clip launching. Scale mode locks the keys to any of 30 scales, three chord modes (Chord Map, User Chord, Fixed Chord) plus a Chord Detector make progressions effortless, and the generative arpeggiator adds Mutate and Deviate controls with an 8-step editor featuring tie, accent and ratchet. An Ableton step sequencer creates MIDI clips right from the hardware.
Custom integrations cover Ableton Live, Logic, Cubase, FL Studio, Reason, Bitwig and Ardour, with NKS compatibility for Native Instruments software and a MIDI output for hardware. The bundle includes Ableton Live Lite, Cubase LE, Novation Play, Komplete 15 Select, Klevgrand and Orchestral Tools instruments and Melodics lessons. “The inclusion of educational content is always a plus for me, and it’s a boon for newer producers wanting to pick up this appropriately priced MIDI keyboard. What I love about the Launchkey is how easy it is to customize, though I’ll admit I didn’t dive too deep into this functionality since programming and mapping isn’t as much my forte as good ol “music making” is. “Otherwise, the guts and the intelligence inside the controllers are the same throughout the range, as is the single MIDI output on the back and the smart, plastic but solid feel. The only missing feature is any form of aftertouch on the keyboards; however, you will find polyphonic aftertouch on the velocity‑sensitive and brightly lit pads. The full range. To give you an idea of the relative sizes, the Launchkey Mini 25 measures 338.5 x 176.8 x 49mm, while the Launchkey 61’s dimensions are 895 x 263.5 x93mm.
