Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 4th Gen Audio Interface
The Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 4th Gen is the smartest compact Scarlett yet: a 4-in/4-out USB-C interface whose remote-controlled preamps can literally set your levels for you.
Two 4th Generation preamps deliver huge clean gain with the new two-stage Air mode (Presence, plus Harmonic Drive for analogue-style colour), while Auto Gain listens and sets perfect levels in seconds and Clip Safe automatically pulls gain back before a take distorts. Additional line inputs and four line outputs handle synths and outboard, MIDI in/out ties in hardware, and the converters — derived from Focusrite's flagship RedNet range — capture with pristine dynamic range. The Hitmaker Expansion software bundle is included.

“With the 4i4 I found the lack of four mic preamps a little disappointing as both Audient and Behringer offer this for slightly less money. “Simply activate direct monitoring mode to quickly select which signal you’re getting in your cans, be it computer audio only or a combination of computer audio and your input signal. And all-hardware processing means, seriously, zero latency. Now, while the new 4i4 doesn’t include direct monitoring, it does feature independent output mixes for all four outputs, plus the headphone out.
