Arturia MicroBrute Analog Synthesizer
The Arturia MicroBrute is a 100% analogue monophonic synthesizer in an ultra-compact package, famous for a raw, aggressive sound that far outweighs its size. It is a modern classic for first synths and gnarly bass and lead duties alike.
A single analogue oscillator mixes sawtooth, square and triangle waves, thickened by the Ultrasaw, Pulse Width and Metalizer wave modifiers and an Overtone sub-oscillator, then shaped by the legendary Steiner-Parker multimode filter with the Brute Factor feedback control for added growl. A step sequencer, a fast LFO and envelope, and a mini mod-matrix patchbay with CV routing bring genuine modular-style flexibility, while a 25-note mini keyboard, MIDI in, USB and CV/Gate connections tie it into any rig.

“See, I said I was going to gush… just imagine if I worked for Arturia? So after that over-effusive, rhapsodic introduction what else is there to say? Plenty. ... “And, while we're on the subject of keybeds, why don't Arturia give either or both of the 'Brutes the 61-note units from the Analogue Experience and KeyLab series? That would turn them into 'real' performance synthesizers. Finally, I can see some potential owners decrying the lack of battery power. Arturia have addressed this on their web site, explaining that the size and weight of batteries needed to power the MicroBrute's rather 'hot' rails and retain its sound quality would be excessive, and out of keeping with the synth's image.”Read full review →
