Arturia MicroBrute Review (Analog Synthesizer)

“For the retail price of around £250, this small-scale noisemaker seems like a total steal on paper, considering that it’s a 100% analog synthesizer with a whole bunch of knobs and sliders on the front panel and quite a few connectivity options on the back. MicroBrute is delivered in a nice looking box which contains the following items:”

Arturia MicroBrute review | MusicRadar

“The MicroBrute isn't going to replace a well-specified software synth design in terms of flexibility and sonic scope, but it is very good at being an analogue monosynth. "Although it is 'mini' it feels very much like a grown-up synthesizer" Some might argue that an option to run on batteries would have been welcome, though Arturia claim that sacrifices in sound quality would have been required.”

Arturia MicroBrute Analog Synthesiser Review | Pro Tools - The leading website for Pro Tools users

“See, I said I was going to gush… just imagine if I worked for Arturia? So after that over-effusive, rhapsodic introduction what else is there to say? Plenty. ... The MicroBrute is a micro analog (sic) synth featuring basic Sawtooth, Square, Triangle waveforms which are then further enhanced by a Steiner-Parker 2 pole Multimode Filter (Low Pass, Band Pass, High Pass), a Overtone’ sub oscillator / 5th generator as well as Pulse Width Modulation, Ultrasaw generating fat sawtooth waveforms and Metalizer bringing extreme harmonics.”

Sound on Sound

Arturia MicroBrute

“And, while we're on the subject of keybeds, why don't Arturia give either or both of the 'Brutes the 61-note units from the Analogue Experience and KeyLab series? That would turn them into 'real' performance synthesizers. Finally, I can see some potential owners decrying the lack of battery power. Arturia have addressed this on their web site, explaining that the size and weight of batteries needed to power the MicroBrute's rather 'hot' rails and retain its sound quality would be excessive, and out of keeping with the synth's image.”

Arturia Microbrute Analog Synthesizer (2024 Review) - MC

“Its smaller dimensions don't impede its functionality. With an all-analog set of circuitry under its hood and a reasonable build for its price range, this is an excellent value for money synth up for grabs.”
