A 16-band vocoder with accessible real-time voicing controls . A detachable gooseneck microphone. A slick new aesthetic. MicroFreak Vocoder Edition takes unhinged hybrid carnage and cranks it up a notch - sing to the tune of pandemonium and lose control. Update your firmware to V2.
1 to enjoy the new Vocoder feature, presets and TRRS connectivity. Find out more... The uniquely unpredictable MicroFreak formula but not as you know it. The human voice consists of complex, unique harmonics. A 16-band Vocoder design ensures that these harmonics are detected, filtered and replicated accurately.
Speak your mind and MicroFreak will respond in kind. The Vocoder engine features 3 waveforms - sawtooth, pulse width and noise - while the Timbre and Shape knobs adjust the 16 frequency bands to twist and transform your voice. MicroFreak Vocoder Edition goes beyond robot vocals. A simple vocoded chord voicing shaken up with a looped envelope-style effect.
First impressions make a difference. MicroFreak has always been out to make a statement, and the Vocoder Edition is no exception.
Detailed technical specifications are shown in the Overview section above.

Plus, at under $300, I think this is one of the best synthesizer values on the market. “This mix of digital flexibility and analog character gives the MicroFreak a wide range of sounds, from clear, glassy textures to thick, rich bass tones, even within the same preset. What truly sets it apart from other budget synths is how many different types of synthesis it offers in one affordable package. It includes virtual analog, wavetable, FM, physical modeling, granular processing, sample playback, vocoder, speech synthesis, and more, all controlled from the front panel.”Read full review →
