The Arturia KeyLab 88 MK3 is the flagship tier of Arturia's controller range, in white: a premium 88-key MIDI keyboard with an aluminium body, real wood end-pieces and deep integration with your DAW and Arturia's instruments.
88 fully-weighted keys on a Fatar TP/110 hammer-action keybed with channel aftertouch give an authentic piano feel. A full-colour 3.5-inch screen with 8 contextual buttons and a clickable encoder brings AstroLab-style control: load an Arturia plugin and its presets and parameters appear on the keyboard instantly. 12 large RGB pads (velocity and pressure-sensitive, 4 banks), 9 touch-sensitive rotary encoders, 9 faders and dedicated transport controls handle performance and mixing, with Chord mode (smart voicing), Scale mode, Hold and a multi-mode arpeggiator on board.
Connectivity covers bus-powered USB-C, 5-pin MIDI in/out and pedal inputs, with custom DAW scripts for Ableton Live, Logic, FL Studio, Cubase and Bitwig plus MCU/HUI support. “Further playing‑oriented features include pairs of dedicated buttons for semitone transposition (always useful) and octave transposition (less useful with an 88‑note keyboard) along with the Scale, Chord and Arpeggiator features described in the previous review. Those are good, far from an afterthought, and wonderfully easy to control via the LED display and soft buttons. I found the KeyLab operating system delightful and quick for making MIDI control assignments. Holding the Settings button and touching a control instantly brings up a really clear, informative configuration screen in the LED display. For some jobs though, Arturia’s freely available MIDI Control Center application (or Windows/macOS) will make ambitious setups even quicker to achieve.”Read full review →
